The Basics: We are looking for men and women between the ages of 18-60 who injure themselves regularly to participate in a research study at The New York State Psychiatric Institute that is evaluating a possible new treatment for self-injury called transcranial direct current stimulation, or tDCS. tDCS is a non-invasive form of electrical brain stimulation.
The research study involves 12 sessions of tDCS over two weeks. We offer three months of visits with a psychiatrist in our research group at no cost after tDCS.
Compensation for your time and effort: Up to $150 if you are eligible and choose to participate. Up to 3 months of visits with a psychiatrist at no cost to you.
